St. Mary Church
150th Celebration
St. Mary’s Church in Minooka is celebrating its 150th anniversary this coming year. The parish was founded by Rome in 1862. Masses were originally celebrated in a house on West and Mondamin streets. It was in 1869 that a building was constructed. That location is where our cemetary is today and where the first permanent priest said mass.
The New Roman Missal
WELCOMING THE ROMAN MISSAL - THIRD EDITION. As our Catholic Church from all English speaking nations across the world prepare for the new translation of the Roman Missal, we at St. Mary's are ready for this change. Sunday, November 27, The First Sunday of Advent, we begin to implement this new translation. This website has been prepared to help you prepare for the transition. As this site continues to be expanded, you will find helpful resources for the faithful, for the clergy, and for parish and diocesan leaders. May this process of the implementation of the revised Roman Missal be a time of deepening, nurturing, and celebrating our faith . For more information, please go to: http://www.usccb.org/romanmissal/
Advent Season
Lord Jesus, Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day. We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!" Amen.
